We kicked off the hiking season in full gear, boy was I NOT in shape for it. It was a round trip of 6 miles, and the 3 miles up to the peek was on a fairly steep incline - my quads were burning, so although I've been fairly nonactive this weekend (we've been painting) I think this made up for it.

Beautiful scenery.

Taking a rest, our little dogs are such troopers they love hiking.

Syd going to town on the grass.

The view from 3/4 up the trail.

Crossing a few of the streams were these logs. We would walk on the logs and have the dogs walk in the stream to cool off. However, the next stream we encountered after this picture was not so fortunate to Syd, the current was stronger, she lost her balance and away she went. Her face stricken with panic, my heart only needed to drop for a few seconds when Brad jumped in. He grabbed her by the collar but she was slipping out of it so he grabbed the tough fur on her back and pulled her in. Syd came out of the incident unharmed but wary of streams.

And poor Syd again, as if being swept away by the current was not enough, she tore the padding on her paw. She was limping the last mile. Brad and I were switching off carrying her down the rest of the mountain (and when I say "switched off" Brad did the major majority of the carrying my contribution was really quite pathetic).
Yay to Brad for saving the day!
ReplyDeletePoor Sydney, Hope you have a quick recoup!
Where's Julie? No pics?
I'm waiting for more pics of the new house. I've seen more than enough of Brad ;)
ReplyDeleteHa, I guess I'm a little partial to looking at pics of Brad :) Pictures of the house are coming soon but the house is a mess and I don't want pics of a messy house (I think some of my readers would be mortified to see the state of it). Or better yet, maybe you should just come out here and get the real deal, eh? (Because we all know you have the time with moving and all!)
