On Hold Indefinitely

This is so upsetting... I just heard this. Stephenie Meyer's Midnight Sun has been leaked and she's ticked. http://stepheniemeyer.com/ But she has posted the first 16 chapters since she knows the news will cause her fans to want to read it. She said, "If I tried to write Midnight Sun now, in my current frame of mind, James would probably win and all the Cullens would die, which wouldn't dovetail too well with the original story. In any case, I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on Midnight Sun, and so it is on hold indefinitely." I think I could cry...

  1. I know!! I'm so upset too. I don't want to read it on the computer - incomplete, no less. I want a shiny black book to stick with the others. I'm really torn and haven't read any of it on the computer. I keep hoping she'll cool down and agree to write the book after all. Otherwise I have to sit in front of my computer which just won't be the same. Sniff, sniff.

  2. I'm a little ticked at her attitude. I hope it will pass. She could be extremely flattered by the attention it is getting. I agree with you J, I want a book. I don't want to read something that's incomplete either. I didn't read the copy I saw because I think the anticipation and frustration of waiting for the rest would very likely kill me or put me in a catatonic state.... I bet she'll finish it.

  3. See, the thing is, any true fan of the series wouldn't want to read an incomplete 'draft' version anyway. Why, why, WHY would she punish her bazillion fans for this? I agree with Aubrey - I'm disappointed by her response. Sort of sulky or something.

  4. I agree with the sulky behavior but I also understand how pissed off she probably is, and that she, as an author, needs to take a stand on copyright infringements. But I think her emotions will pass and she will finish it. I can't read the draft, I honestly can say I really don't have an ounce of desire to read it either. I am having faith, that one day I will finally get to read it in a final, (legal), bounded, black shiny book. :)

  5. Hey - this has nothing to do with All Things Twilight, but have you guys seen What Happens in Vegas? I ask because I think I bust something watching it this weekend, it was so funny, and I can't shake this feeling that Brad shares a whole mess load of expressions with Ashton Kutcher.

  6. Oh, and I forgot to confess that I caved and read what exists of Midnight Sun, and IT WAS SO GOOD. It's probably going to kill me if she doesn't finish it off and publish it at some point. There's enough of it that I can tell it would be my favorite of all the Twilight books. Hands down. And that makes me even sadder.

  7. No, we haven't seen What Happens in Vegas, but I have to agree with you on the Ashton Kutcher expressions look-alike. So Midnight Sun is that good? Now, I'm afraid to read it, but I think I will eventually.
