I Heart...

Meet my new Crush:

Oh, and boy, did I fall. Like, head over heels. Luckily, the B Team shares the same attraction. A little late in game? That's debatable. With the final season approaching, I would call it perfect timing.

Boeuf Bourguignon (Julie Style)

I was craving french food so I attempted to make Julia Child's recipe boeuf bourguignon, and except for small changes (not purposely) I actually did it!

And the results: Delicious!

I'm not a big fan of beef recipes but this was superb. The original recipe called for bacon rind, but I called every butcher in a 60 miles radius and I couldn't find it anywhere, so I did without it. Second, I didn't realize you were just suppose to brown the beef I cooked it, so I only cooked the stew for 2 hours instead of the 2 1/2 to 3 hours.

Bon appétit!

Healing Hands for Haiti

The Healing Hands for Haiti foundation provides medical care to Haiti. This picture below was the medical center which was destroyed in the earth quake. This foundation offers so much good to the Haitian people. I am helping to raise funds and collect goods for the medical center and orphanages of Haiti. If you would like the opportunity to help please let me know. If you want to know more about the foundation here is their web site: http://www.healinghandsforhaiti.org/ Anything helps.

I'm Stylin'

I woke up this morning freezing, so I put on my thick white socks. However, I forgot to take of said socks. Now, I'm rockin' the MJ at work.

CrAzY pIlLs

Have you ever had one of those days that you felt like your were taking CrAzY pills (when everyone around you seems like they are going crazy)? Yeah, well today is one of those days for me. And then I saw these pictures...

And I'm instantly brought back to sanity. Ahhhhh. Amazing how adorable cuteness can do that.

geek

Pronunciation: \ˈgēk\
Function: noun

1. A person obsessed with intellectual pursuits for their own sake, who is also deficient in most other human attributes so as to impair the person's smooth operation within society.
2. A person who is interested in technology, especially computing and new media. Geeks are adept with computers, and use the term hacker in a positive way, though not all are hackers themselves.
3. A person who relates academic subjects to the real world outside of academic studies; for example, using multivariate calculus to determine how they should correctly optimize the dimensions of a pan to bake a cake.
4. A person who has chosen concentration rather than conformity; one who passionately pursues skill (especially technical skill) and imagination, not mainstream social acceptance.
5. A person with a devotion to something in a way that places him or her outside the mainstream. This could be due to the intensity, depth, or subject of their interest. This definition is very broad but because many of these interests have mainstream endorsement and acceptance, the inclusion of some genres as "geeky" is heavily debated.

A more recent school of thought sees Nerd as being a derogatory phrase, whilst Geek is simply a description. It is taken to be someone who is an enthusiast, often in things outside of the mainstream spectrum, of note is that in this definition, there is no reference to being socially inept in the slightest.

Sound like someone you might know? Such as the man I married?

Which is exactly why when I passed this gift bag in the grocery store I could not pass it by - I had to buy it.

And of course it is filled with geekiness goodness, but than I had to take it a step further. This bag inspired me to buy this:

Some women love men in uniforms I love men with pocket protectors, and that is a true story folks.

(In Brad's defense - he doesn't wear pocket protectors, however if he did I would find it endearing.)

Comedy of Errors

Do you ever feel like your life is a comedy of errors? I feel like this daily.

nem-e-sis

[nem-uh-sis]
–noun, plural -ses
1. something that a person cannot conquer, achieve, etc.: The performance test proved to be my nemesis.
2. an opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome.
3. (initial capital letter ) Classical Mythology. the goddess of divine retribution.
4. an agent or act of retribution or punishment.

Yeah, I had one. His name was Doug and he was my evening bus driver. He is no longer my driver. Thrilled? Yes, but I'm experiencing a sense of emptiness. I completely understand why Batman must have his Joker, why Laura Ingalls needed Nellie Oleson, and Sherlock’s archenemy the Professor James Moriarty. I had spent many hours contemplating how to stump Doug, who I swear found joy in foiling my plans to get home quickly and not green with motion sickness, and when I did stump him I thought I would shed tears of joy. There was such a sense of accomplishment when I could step on the bus and say, “A ha Doug! I took Dramamine so I won’t throw up on the bus today” or “A ha Doug! I learned a new technique to avoid getting motion sick – sun glasses!” Or my personal favorite, right as I was about to step onto the bus I said, “Psych!!! My husband is picking me up!” The feeling was triumphant, and well now, I no longer feel triumphant. Now I just get on a bus and go home, and really where is the sense of accomplishment in that?
