I keep a candy dish on my desk which I pay to keep filled. A co-worker who was out sick all last week due to bronchitis came back to work today. This particular co-worker walked by my desk coughed up a lung into their hand then reached into my (just filled) candy dish to take a couple of pieces that were at the bottom, and I repeat AFTER COUGHING UP A LUNG INTO THEIR HAND!!!! I was disgusted. Needless to say I threw out the bowl of candy.
I would have done the same thing... that's gross!
ReplyDeleteJulie,
ReplyDeleteI suppose the thing to do is get a COVERED candy dish (I have a nice one I'll give you when you come home soon).
I don't think anyone would have the nerve to remove the lid and take a candy.BUT, just in case, the first time you put it on your desk, put in one of those spring things that leap out of cans, etc.
That should scare them enough to never go near your candy again. Then it will be safe to refill it with jelly beans.
Don't ever forget, you have to keep one jump ahead of some people...
I put a spoon next to, or in, my jar, and people still just use their hands sometimes. NASTY!!!! I don't like peoples' hands all over things I'm going to (possibly) eat.
ReplyDeleteI love Marty - I am so glad that you blogged this. We should come up with nicknames for many others!
ReplyDeleteYeah, that is gross! I usually have wrapped candy in mine. Or if I do have unwrapped candy in there, then I will NEVER eat it. The germs totally gross me out! I also love it when people say, "Hey, when are you going to get more candy?" Umm, when you want to start contributing to the candy fund!
